How we hosted a Virtual Holiday Mixer during the pandemic: Mamacita Market edition

Planning an event during these times is so stressful! The rules are constantly changing but the health and wellbeing of our community is our priority. We couldn’t “go all out” to end this year but we went all-in with some adjustments! We decided to host not one but two mini-events back to back. We started with a mini Mamacita Market at one of our favorite local spots in South Gate, EatGud. EatGud is women-owned and so delicious! They serve up healthy and fresh options like sandwiches and acai bowls. You can find good food in South Gate!

The Mamacita Market was the setting for four of our hand-selected vendors. These were all vendors and women-owned business in Los Angeles whom we had worked with before and who we knew would be flexible should the event have to be canceled. Having a working and mutual understanding is one thing we value the most when working with other small businesses. They understand that we coordinate every little detail but some things are bound to be out of our control. While EatGud customers met and shopped our vendors, women from our community were also stopping by our booth to pick up their swag for our virtual Mamacita Mixer.

Balloon Boss Babe sponsored this beautiful backdrop! She is a talented balloon event stylist in Orange County & beyond. We appreciate her commitment and professionalism! Her creation was so beautiful that we took a photo of just the balloon backdrop and used it the next day are our festive zoom backdrop for our virtual holiday mixer!

Mamacitas were encouraged to grab a glass of wine and joined us for a fun hour of holiday crafting and a make-up tutorial. The talented Evie from Evie and Ellie taught us how to create holiday pom-poms and our very own Gaby gave us all tips on how to rock a gorgeous red lip. All materials were included in our signature swag bag that attendees got to pick up from us the day before.

Hosting a virtual mixer was different but definitely worth the fun! We hope you can join us next time.
